Deer Park Oktoberfest 2017

Oct 2017

The Deer Park Irish Pub is at it again, but this time the popular pub is stepping out of the kilts and forgoing the keg toss and will step into lederhosen to compete in a stein hoisting contest and polka! The Deer Park is celebrating fall with a family friendly Oktoberfest, organized this year for the first time starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 14.

This event is sure to bring out the German in all of us, young and old alike, and even your pet! At 1 p.m. the heated tent will open to patrons. Children will have a chance to win prizes during the pretzel toss at 2 p.m., and The Allen County SPCA will take the stage at 3 p.m. to host Fort Wayne’s finest German dogs in the Best of Show contest. A Sam Adam’s stein hoisting contest begins at 4 p.m., followed at 5 p.m. by some good ol’ fashioned polka dancing with the Tanzer Children’s dance troupe. The party doesn’t end there: Jammin’ German Band takes the Deer Park stage at 6 p.m., last but not least, enjoy a beer stein race at 10 p.m.

Bratwurst, hotdogs and German potato salad will be offered. Root beer for children will be available and plenty of pints of Oktoberfest signature craft beers for the adults.

Henry says “If we can jig in the Spring under the tent, why not Polka in the Fall under the tent?”

Events all weekend are free to the public.
